I grew up mostly in Columbia, SC. I attended EL Wright elementary school and Dent Junior High School and graduated from Irmo High School. I was teaching freshman General Chemistry and sophomore Organic Chemistry for about 20 years at the 4 year college level. I also taught Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry and Spectroscopy at the graduate level. I also taught one year at Richland Northeast High School teaching 3 sections of CP Chemistry, 2 sections of Physics and one section of Earth Science.

I have taught college chemistry with usually almost zero drop/fails in my classes (in comparison to the standard 30% drop/fails) with proof of assessment results about the same as other sections with 30% drop/fails.

My father has a doctorate in Physics from Florida State University and taught Physics as a tenured professor at Benedict College for some 30 years before retirement. My brother has a doctorate in Computer Science from Ohio State University and has been a tenured college professor at George Washington University in Washington DC. Mom has a degree in elementary education but was a stay at home mom all her life.

My parents bought a house in Irmo more than 40 years ago and my Dad still owns that house. My Dad and I are still living there. Mom passed away last year and Dad is unable to live by himself.
